GAZA CITY, Sept 10: A Hamas leader was killed on Friday as Israel pressed a major offensive in the northern Gaza Strip and imposed a watertight closure on the Palestinian territories before the Jewish New Year.
Meanwhile, right-wing Jewish settlers warned of "civil war" over Israel's planned pullout from the Gaza Strip and urged Israeli soldiers and police not to take part in what they said would be a "crime against humanity." -AFP
