Malaysian naval chief calls on Shahid

ISLAMABAD, Sept 10: Chief of Naval Staff Royal Malaysian Navy Admiral Dato Sri Mohammad Anwar visited Naval Headquarters on Friday.

The Malaysian naval chief called on Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Shahid Karimullah and held discussions on various aspects relating to promotion of existing ties between the two navies.

Admiral Anwar showed interest in the submarine training facilities available with Pakistan Navy and expressed keenness to enhance cooperation between the two navies. He also attended a briefing on the present regional maritime scenario, besides Pakistan Navy's role.

Earlier, on his arrival, the Malaysian naval chief was presented guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Navy. Admiral Karimullah then introduced the visiting dignitary to the principal staff officers at the Naval Headquarters.

Meanwhile, Siti Hapsah, the wife of Royal Malaysian naval chief, visited the Naval Complex in Islamabad. On arrival, she was received by Nasreen Shahid, wife of Admiral Shahid Karimullah and President of Pakistan Navy Women Association (PNWA).

The visiting lady was given a detailed briefing on the PNWA working and different projects being undertaken by the association for the welfare of widows and wards of Shuhada of Pakistan Navy.

Ms Hapsah was also shown a documentary on the special children school, a project of the PNWA, which once completed would not only provide an international standard educational facility to special children of PN personnel, but also cater for the special children of civilians both in Islamabad and Karachi.

The visiting dignitary appreciated the role of PNWA in nation building and the projects undertaken by it for the wellbeing of the dependents of Shuhada.
