PESHAWAR, Sept 9: MMA's central leader and chief of JUI (S) Maulana Samiul Haq has accused NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani of encouraging horse-trading.
About 100 students received certificates here on Thursday from Maulana Sami-ul-Haq, who was chief guest at the Dastarbandi ceremony held at Jamiah Ashrafia.
Talking to newsmen before the commencement of the ceremony, the Maulana accused Mr Durrani of opening the door for horse-trading by appointing Mr Ayaz Khan, a JUI (S) member, as minister in the MMA government.
He said that he had opposed in writing the induction of a JUI (S) member in the cabinet but Mr Ayaz Khan was still made a minister. "Mr Durrani has done so just to discredit JUI(S) and hold it responsible for the wrongs done by the two parties, JUI(F) and Jumaat Islami," he said.
Mr Ayaz Khan was appointed a provincial minister "even though I had disallowed it because I did not want JUI (S) to be liable for MMA's policies and actions," Maulana Sami said.
He said that the alliance of religious parties came into being as a result of collective efforts. The idea was to bring all the religious forces under one banner but two parties of the alliance had overshadowed other parties.
He said the two parties were trying to hijack the conglomerate and taking important decisions on their own without consulting other parties of the alliance, Maulana Sami said.
On the question of President Pervez Musharraf's uniform, the Maulana said that it was the headache of those who had signed an agreement with the military government.
Answering a question, Maulana Sami said that he was not a party to the Legal Framework Order (LFO) deal "so I am not in a position to comment on the LFO or uniform issue." He, however, said that JUI (S) would back Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz's policies if they were in the national interest.
