KARACHI: International teaching moot from Oct 1

KARACHI, Sept 9: Experts from at least 12 countries will speak at a three-day conference, 'Innovative teachers: agents of change,' that opens here on Oct 1.

The conference is being organized by the Society of Pakistan English Language Teachers (Spelt), the National Committee on English, the Higher Education Commission and the British Council. It is the 20th international conference of Spelt.

A teacher trainer associated with the Aston University, Birmingham, the United Kingdom, Jane Willis, who specializes in applied linguistics and English language teaching methodology, will deliver the keynote speech on on 'Waves of future in ELT: areas for innovation and change.'

Experts from the UK, Australia, Spain, Japan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Jordan, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates will participate in the conference, that will be inaugurated by Sindh Education Minister Dr Hameeda Khuhro. Similar conferences will also be held in Lahore and Islamabad from Oct 8 to Oct 10 and workshops will be held in Abbotabad, Multan and Sukkur.
