TOBA TEK SINGH, Sept 8: A modern laboratory for diagnosing poultry diseases will be set up soon in Kamalia. This was stated by Governor Khalid Maqbool while speaking to the officials and representatives of the Poultry Farmers Association here at the Zarai Traqqiati Bank Limited branch on Wednesday.

He directed the ZTBL manager to provide more loan facilities to poultry farmers. He said in future, the ZTBL manager and local officers would be empowered to give loans to livestock farmers for the purchase of cattle worth Rs100,000.

During a visit to the local Faisalabad Electric Supply Company offices, he directed Wapda officials to improve the quality of meters to remove public complaints regarding excess meter-reading.

The governor directed the Fesco to complete Wapda development schemes in the district worth Rs400 million. He also ordered disposal of all tubewell connection cases within two months.

During his visit to PTCL offices, the governor announced that a PTCL customer service centre would be set up in Kamalia. Speaking to a gathering at Toba on the mass wedding of some 50 couples, the governor claimed that the entire nation wanted President Musharraf in uniform.

He said he would again visit Toba next month to award loans to 1,000 farmers under the micro-credit finance scheme for setting up livestock farms. Meanwhile, traffic remained jammed for hours on the Toba-Jhang and Toba-Kamalia Road during the governor's visit. Signboards were forcibly removed from the poles on the governor's route by Wapda and TMA staff.
