TV channel files writ against BCCI

MUMBAI, Sept 7: The battle over four-year telecast rights of Board of Control for Cricket in India took yet another curious turn when ESPN-Star Sports filed a writ in Mumbai High Court against BCCI.

The private TV broad casters's R.C. Vekateish said "we have done this on two counts - eligibility criteria as tender document clearly mentioned a 2-year technical cut off as also in house programming and distortion in bidding process by BCCI which denied us natural justice." By challenging award of rights on the basis of being highest bidder, one can expect the joust to be fought in the courts. -PPI
