Sri Lanka agree to revise itinerary

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Sept 2: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has agreed to revise the schedule of its two-Test cricket series against Pakistan to enable the host country to tour India early next year.

The Sri Lankans were originally scheduled to play two Tests in Pakistan in February-March but the series has been brought forward to start next month. Sri Lanka will play the first Test in Faisalabad from Oct 20 while the second match will take place in Karachi from Oct 28.

The rescheduling was made possible after Bangladesh agreed to postpone its October series against Sri Lanka until next year following a request by the PCB. The Test series will follow a tri-series between host Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.

TRI-SERIES SCHEDULE:

Sept 30: Pakistan v Zimbabwe at Multan.

Oct 3: Pakistan v Zimbabwe at Peshawar.

Oct 6: Pakistan v Sri Lanka at Karachi.

Oct 9: Sri Lanka v Zimbabwe at Rawalpindi.

Oct 11: Sri Lanka v Zimbabwe at Rawalpindi.

Oct 14: Pakistan v Sri Lanka (D/N) at Lahore.

Oct 16: Final (D/N) at Lahore.

Oct 20-24: Ist Test vs Sri Lanka at Faisalabad.

Oct 28-Nov 1: Second Test at Karachi.
