Attempt to shift Asif from Karachi

Published September 3, 2004

KARACHI, Sept 2: The authorities made an attempt to shift Mr Asif Ali Zardari from his hospital sub-jail here to some other city on Thursday evening. However, Mr Zardari had to sit at the airport for about three hours because the flight he was supposed to take had already left.

According to former minister Agha Siraj Durrani, some officials came to Mr Zardari at the Ziauddin Hospital where he was receiving treatment, and told him that he would have to leave for the airport because there was a need to shift him from Karachi.

Mr Durrani termed it yet another attempt to harass the interned husband of Benazir Bhutto. The flight was missed because of traffic rush on the road. However, the PPP leader said, Mr Zardari was made to sit at the airport for quite some time.
