NHA chief stresses durable highways

ISLAMABAD, Sept 2: Chairman National Highway Authority (NHA) Furrukh Javed has emphasized the need for employing modern technology and construction techniques for building long-life highways in the country.

He was speaking at the opening session of a two-day seminar on "Re-inforced soil structures" at the NHA Headquarters here on Thursday. Internationally reputed national and international road- building experts also spoke on the occasion.

Mr Furrukh said during the construction activity, quality of construction material, temperature and climatic conditions must be kept in mind. Speaking in detail on various aspects of the contributory factors causing damage to the highways and their solutions, he said construction of long-life and durable roads was the topmost priority of the NHA. In order to achieve this objective, he said, there is need to analyse the reasons in detail which cause damage to the roads.
