ISLAMABAD, Sept 2: The Pakistan-US Joint Working Group began a two-day meeting on Thursday to discuss wide ranging issues including bilateral co-operation concerning counter terrorism.
This is the third meeting of the Joint Group on Counter Terrorism and Law Enforcement. The Pakistani side is headed by Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Tariq Mahmud and includes representatives of the ministries of foreign affairs and finance and other law enforcement agencies.
The US delegation comprises Ambassador Joseph Cofer Black, Coordinator for Counter Terrorism Office of the Secretary of State; Steve Schrage, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) Department of State and Bruce Swartz, Deputy Assistant Attorney General, Criminal Division Department of Justice.
On the first day, the two sides discussed wide ranging issues including bilateral co-operation on counter terrorism, counter narcotics, law enforcement and human trafficking. The first meeting of the group was held in Islamabad in September 2002. -APP
