Published September 3, 2004

MIRPURKHAS, Sept 2: DCO Siddique Memon has said that knowledge about the implementation of development schemes and its procedure was very essential. He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of three-day training workshop of government officers here on Tuesday.

The workshop was organized by the Sindh planning and development department in collaboration with the Unicef to highlight new concepts of development. Sindh planning and development department chief economist A.G. Pirzado said the workshop would be helpful in preparing development plans and increasing knowledge of officials as well as improve their level of confidence to take decisions.

He said officials faced problems when they were not provided knowledge about annual development plans and preparation of development schemes. He stressed the need for proper monitoring of concerned experts about on-going development schemes sponsored by Unicef, World Bank and other funding agencies.

He said the district planning manual had been provided to officers about proper knowledge of schemes. He briefed the workshop about preparation of development schemes, PC-I, development plans and budget.
