HYDERABAD: Hospital to get cardiac ward by year-end

HYDERABAD, Sept 2: Liaquat University Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Hadi Bux Jatoi has said that medicines worth Rs25 million were available at the hospital's drug store which would be provided to the poor people free of cost.

Speaking at a meeting of the Senior Citizens Society held here on Wednesday, Dr Jatoi said previously only 11,000 pathological tests were conducted in the hospital per month, but ever since he took over the charge, the number had increased to 45,000.

He said approximately 12,000 tests were conducted free of charge. Dr Jatoi said by the end of current year a new cardiac ward would start functioning at the hospital which would be equipped with a MIR machine.

He said a special place had been reserved in the OPD for senior citizens where they would be provided free medical treatment, while all their pathological tests would also be carried out without any charge. He said citizens could register their complaints on telephone no 137.

Speaking on the occasion, Senior Citizens Society President Dr Noor Mohammad Memon lauded the services of Dr Hadi Bux Jatoi and said he was an honest and conscientious doctor.

SLA: The Sindhi Language Authority announced here on Thursday that a three-day workshop was being held in Karachi for the teachers of Sindhi language in government and private schools from Sept 27 to 29.

The authority advised the Sindhi language teachers to contact its office through their schools to finalize arrangements for the workshop. The SLA further announced that the authority had published a Sindhi-English dictionary for children which contains pictures and drawings. The dictionary is compiled by Prof Basheer Ahmed Mangi and revised by authority's chairman, Dr Mohammad Qasim Bughio.
