MANDI BAHAUDDIN: Three dozen outlaws held in a week

MANDI BAHAUDDIN, Sept 2: The district police on Thursday claimed to have rounded up over three dozen members of 11 gangs of dacoits and robbers during the last one week.
This was disclosed by DPO Waqar Haider in a press conference which was also attended by Sadar DSP Ziaullah Niazi, SHO Tariq Mehmood and inspector (investigation) Muhammad Imran here on Thursday.
The DPO said the Sadar police had traced two dacoity-cum-murder cases in which dacoits shot dead Fazal Karim at Chalianwala and took away Rs800,000 in cash. While armed dacoits shot dead a man and injured his son on resistance at Shafquatabad.
He said the police had arrested dacoits Ilyas, Mansha alias Shammoo and Flak Sher and recovered weapons including a Kalashnikov and one 8mm rifle from their possession. The arrested dacoits were involved in three murder and four dacoity cases.
Mr Haider said the Sadar police had also arrested four dacoits Asif alias Choppa, Zubair alias Shola and two others. The DPO informed newsmen that the police had also rounded up bandits - Nasir Mahmood, Safdar Hussain and Khalid Iqbal.
He said they had shot dead vaccination superintendent Dr Intizar Hussain on resistance a few days back. The arrested bandits had tried to snatch the motorcycle of the doctor.
The City police, the DPO said, had also arrested a gang of dacoits comprising Dr Muhammad Imran, Tariq Mehmood and Aamir Sultan and recovered three stolen cars worth Rs1.2 million from their custody.
Mr Haider said the district police had rounded up four criminals - Abdul Jabbar, Shahid, Farooq, Muneer Ahmed and recovered looted amount of Rs125,000 from their possession.
The police also held bandits - Ishaq, Ghulam Mustafa, Rifaqat Ali, Akhtar Ali, Tariq Mehmood in another raid. The Sadar police also arrested outlaws - Akif Nadeem, Amjad Pervaiz and proclaimed offender Ijaz Ahmed after an encounter and retrieved a car, mobile phones from their custody.
The DPO said that the Phalia police had arrested vehicle-lifters, including Shakeel Ahmad, Shahid, Imran and Ashraf, and recovered snatched bikes worth Rs40,000 from them.
Similarly, the DPO said that Parianwali police had rounded up outlaws - Faiz Ahmad alias Bhola, Naeem and four others, who had looted the house of Ashraf on Aug 27. The police also recovered the booty from their possession. DSP Ziaullah Niazi said the Sadar police had arrested two suspects on Wednesday night and recovered from them two snatched motorcycles and four stolen bicycles.
