NAB to handle economic crime cases

By Syed Irfan Raza

ISLAMABAD, Sept 1: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) announced on Wednesday that now it alone would entertain complaints against corruption and economic crimes in federal departments, autonomous institutions and public sector corporations.

Earlier, the Federal Investigation Agency used to handle such complaints. However, following the handing over of its anti-corruption and economic crime wings to the NAB on Aug 17, the FIA's role in those areas has come to an end.

Sources said that complainants could approach the following NAB headquarters: Ataturk Avenue, G-5/2, Islamabad; 5 Club Road, GOR-I, Lahore; 19 Liaquat Barracks, Sharea Faisal, Karachi; PDA commercial complex, Block-3, phase-V, Hayatabad, Peshawar; 333 Sharea Gulistan, Quetta. The FIA wings were handed over to the NAB on Aug 17 under a notification issued by the establishment division.
