LAHORE, Sept 1: Wapda will spend Rs3.5 billion on upgrading its network in all distribution companies during the current fiscal year under the system augmentation programme.
According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, the programme has been envisaged for decrease in line losses and stable power supply to the consumers. The bifurcation and reconstruction of as many as 6,714km high tension and low tension lines was on the cards for the year 2004-05 under the programme. Of these 3,649km were high tension and 3,065 low tensions lines. In addition 759,825 power meters would also be replaced.
The press release said Rs282.2 million had been allocated for the Quetta Electric Supply Company to bifurcate and reconstruct 370km high tension and 147km low tension lines besides replacing 25,000 meters.
As many as 840km high tension and 930km low tension lines would be bifurcated and reconstructed while 44,927 electricity energy meters would be replaced in Hyderabad Electric Supply Company with an amount of Rs617.3 million.
In Peshawar Electric Supply Company, 602km high tension and 141km low tension lines would be bifurcated at a cost of Rs580.4 million. Some 140,000 meters would also be replaced in PESCO area.
The bifurcation and reconstruction of 440km high tension and 936km low tension lines and replacement of 130,000 meters had been planned in Multan Electric Power Company with an amount of Rs474.8 million.
An amount of Rs222.2 million had been earmarked for system augmentation in Islamabad Electric Supply Company. As many as 400km high tension and 156km low tension lines would be bifurcated and reconstructed besides the replacement of 93,242 meters.
In Faisalabad Electric Supply Company, some Rs330.5 million would be spent on 415km high tension and 418km low tension lines and replacement of 100,000 meters. For Gujranwala Electric Power Company, Rs182.3 million had been set aside.
With this amount, as many as 235km high tension and 188km low tension lines would be bifurcated and reconstructed. Some 99,156 meters would also be replaced.
The bifurcation and reconstruction of 347 km high tension and 147km low tension lines and replacement of 127,500 meters had been planned with an amount of Rs310.4 million in Lahore Electric Supply Company during fiscal year 2004.05. In addition, Rs500 million had also been placed for system augmentation programme in the distribution companies.
