Strategy for talks with Pakistan discussed


NEW DELHI, Aug 27: The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) on Friday discussed issues to be negotiated at a meeting of foreign ministers of India and Pakistan to be held on Sept 5 and 6.

"The whole situation and negotiating points were discussed," Indian Defence Minister Paranab Mukherjee told newsmen after coming out of the 90-minute-long meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The Defence Minister, however, declined to divulge further details. The Prime Minister, Mr Mukherjee said, would brief opposition leaders while external affairs minister would give a briefing to leaders of the ruling UPA before the start of formal talks between the countries.

The CCS meeting, among others, was attended by Home Minister Shivraj Patil, External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram and Centre's Points man on talks on Indian Held Kahsmir, N.N. Vohra. -APP
