KARACHI, Aug 26: The US ambassador to Pakistan, Nancy J Powell, met Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad at the Governor's House on Thursday and discussed issues of mutual interest.
The US consul general in Karachi, Douglas C Rohen, and principal secretary to the governor, Brig Akhtar Zamin, were also present on the occasion. They also discussed increased cooperation between the two countries in the fields of health, education, economy and investment.
They agreed that vast opportunities existed in these fields, and that benefits could be derived through co-operation of the public and private sectors. The US ambassador assured the governor of all co-operation in the health and education sectors.
Mr Ibad informed the US envoy that local and international investors, including those from the US, were showing practical interest in various projects in the city. In this regard he said that steps for provision of proper infrastructure, simplification of laws and protection of investors were being ensured.
He said the government was focussing on overall improvement in the province, and international investors were working on many joint venture and making investment in housing, tourism and industrial sectors, besides health and education. -APP
