PESHAWAR: Call for modern exam system

By Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Aug 26: NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has asked the intermediate and secondary education boards of the province to introduce modern system of examination as soon as possible.

Presiding over a special meeting of the chairmen of the boards at the Governor's House here on Thursday, the governor stressed the need for introducing uniform fee structure and simplifying the procedural matters of the boards.

The meeting decided to make one-time registration of the candidates on their first appearance in any examination to be conducted by the respective board, and students passing the secondary examination should not be required to apply for any other registration to become eligible for the inter level examinations.

The meeting also decided that in future both the detail marksheet and provisional certificates should be issued at the same time to private candidates. He said the online system to be formally introduced by the end of this year by all the boards, would be the best solution to the present day problems.

Efforts would be made to solve the problems of the candidates of the far flung areas later. The governor directed that the chairman and senior officials should pay visits from time to time to different sections of their departments to ensure presence of staff particularly dealing with the public affairs.

In cases of negligence serious disciplinary action should be taken against the absconding officials, he added. Earlier, the chairmen of the boards briefed the governor about the working of their respective organizations.
