KARACHI, Aug 25: The US Ambassador in Pakistan, Nancy Powell, called on Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim at Chief Minister Secretariat and discussed matters of mutual interest.
The US Consul General in Karachi, Douglas Rohen, and other officers also attended the meeting. Ms Powell informed the chief minister about various US- assisted projects being implemented in Pakistan. She said that the relations between Pakistan and the US would strengthen and assured the chief minister that the US would continue its help for the betterment of Pakistan economy.
The chief minister apprised the US ambassador about various measures being adopted to encourage investment particularly in commerce and industries sector. Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Bukhshal Khan Gudaro was also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, some foreign diplomats, including a member of royal family of Dubai Nasir Lotha and Commander Bahrain National Guards Sheikh Muhammad Bin Essa Al-Khalifa, called on Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Rahim at his office.
The Consul-General of the UAE, Muhammad Abdullah Ameer Al-Fedha; Consul-General of Saudi Arabia, Dr Hasan A. Al-Attar; and Consul-General of Bahrain, Jamil Abdul Wahab Abdus Salam also visited the chief minister.
Nasir Lotha observed that Pakistan had brotherly relations with Arab countries. "We should resolve our economic and social problems with mutual cooperation," he said. -PPI
