ISLAMABAD, Aug 25: Pakistan and Bosnia on Wednesday discussed greater interaction between the parliamentarians of the two countries, besides further strengthening of cooperation in the economic, trade and cultural fields.

President of Bosnia Herzegovina Sulejman Tihic in a meeting with Chairman Senate Mohammedmian Soomro here at the Parliament House also discussed regional and international issues including the war against terrorism, restructuring of OIC and Pakistan-India relations.

The President of Bosnia Herzegovina, Sulejman Tihic appreciated the support extended by the Government and people of Pakistan to the Bosnian people for their freedom struggle and the contribution of Pakistan as a leading member of peace keeping force.

He expressed the view that the two countries share views on global and regional issues and that both the countries were trying their level best to combat terrorism.

Sulejman Tihic lauded President General Pervez Musharraf's concept of enlightened moderation. He said Islam is religion of tolerance peace and harmony and that extremism and terrorism were contrary to the teachings of Islam.

He was of the view that the political relations between the two countries were close and cordial but needs to be further cemented and strengthened. Chairman Senate Mohammedmian Soomro said Pakistan can offer its technical expertise in textiles, agriculture, mining and industrial sectors.

He said bilateral economic and commercial cooperation could increase through exchange of trade and business delegations. Soomro said tourism and floriculture were potential areas where the two countries could benefit.

He also agreed with the Bosnian President that the tragic events of 9/11 have widened the gap of misunderstanding between the West and Islamic world and the misperception needs to be removed to build a global neighbourhood infused with the spirit of harmony.

Soomro also recounted the close and brotherly relations between the two countries and said Pakistan deeply values its relationship with Bosnia Herzegovina and appreciates the efforts of Bosnian leaders for strengthening the bilateral relations. -APP
