ISLAMABAD, Aug 25: The envoys-designate of various countries on Wednesday presented their credentials to President Gen Pervez Musharraf at the Aiwan-i-Sadr on Wednesday.

These included Nigerian High Commissioner, Senator Umar El-Gash Maina, the ambassador of Sudan, Daffa Alla Elhag Ali Osman, the ambassador of Brazil, Fausto Martha Godoy, the ambassador of Poland, Bogdan Marezewski, the ambassador of Argentina, Pedro Barros, and the ambassador of Mongolia L. Amarsanaa.

Earlier the envoys-designate separately arrived at the Aiwan-i-Sadr. An army contingent presented the guard of honour. National anthems of Pakistan and envoys' respective countries were also played on the occasion. Later, the high commissioner and ambassadors separately called on the president and discussed with him matters of mutual interest.

Meanwhile the outgoing ambassador of Japan, Minoru Shibuya, paid a courtesy call on President Pervez Musharraf here Wednesday. The president appreciated the services of the envoy for strengthening ties between Pakistan and Japan and wished him success in his new assignment.

The envoy thanked the government and people of Pakistan for extending him hospitality during his stay in the country. -APP
