LAHORE: Robbers kill servant on resistance

LAHORE, Aug 25: Robbers killed a man in the city on Wednesday. Zafar Iqbal of Nawankot told police that his 40-year-old servant Muhammad Riaz left his house to fetch breakfast with Rs1,000 in his possession. He was intercepted by two motorcyclists, who tried to rob him and shot him dead on resistance.

The body was sent to the city mortuary for an autopsy. No case has so far been registered in this connection. Meanwhile, five gangsters stormed into the house of Advocate Zafar Ahmad in Wapda Town, Sattukatla, collected cash, gold jewellery and valuables worth Rs700,000, gave a thrashing to the inmates on resistance and escaped, police were told.

ELECTROCUTED: Three people were electrocuted and as many others killed in accidents in various parts of the city on Wednesday. The police said two youths - Arshad and Ehsan - were at work in a rubber factory in Badami Bagh when they received an electric shock. They suffered critical burn wounds and died on way to hospital.

Another labourer, Aslam (28), got a severe shock while installing a hoarding at Tajpura in Ghaziabad. Taj Din (50) sustained critical injuries when a rashly-driven car hit him in Baghbanpura. He died in hospital.

Zubair, 22, of Millat Park was on his way home when a bus hit his motorcycle in Shahdara. He died instantly. Ishfaq told police that he together with his four-year-old son, Usman, visited the shrine of Data Ganj Bakhsh. He said his son received wounds when he rolled down from the stairs. He was rushed to the Mayo Hospital where he died.
