PCB orders status quo over ICA's affairs

ISLAMABAD, Aug 24: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday ordered observation of status quo till the board takes a final decision. In a letter written to secretary ICA Irfan Manzoor on Tuesday, the PCB had informed the status quo prior to Aug 22 developments in the association should be observed.

In yet another letter addressed to secretary ICA Irfan Manzoor, the PCB directed him to forward complete details of the proceedings (General Body meeting of Aug 10 through which Mr Ishaq Bhatti, former president ICA was ousted from his office).

PCB also asked for the specific provisions of the constitution of the ICA through which this exercise was undertaken. Irfan said all these details would soon be sent to PCB.

The ICA general body on Aug 10 passed a motion of no-confidence against Ishaq on account of various serious charges including his failure to run day to day business of the association and working against its interest.

However, on Aug 22 Ishaq on his own as an individual act by using a judicially buried dead document of ICA Constitution, suspended the ICA Executive Committee and announced a 5-member ad hoc committee.

The PCB, however, declined to accept Ishaq's actions. Meanwhile, the ICA Selection Committee headed by Col (Retd) Naushad Ali will meet on Wednesday at Diamond Club's Ground to pick final 20-member squad for the PCB Inter-district seniors championship. The other members of the Selection Committee are Rizwan Khatib, Khurshied Akhtar and Javd Ali Khan. -APP
