QUETTA, Aug 24: A police constable was killed and three others were injured in an encounter with a wanted man in Khuzdar City, some 310 kilometres from here, on Tuesday. The accused, who was also injured in the clash, was arrested later.

The Khuzdar Police Station officer told Dawn by telephone that a raiding team led by DSP Tajamul Hussain Shah attempted to arrest proclaimed offender Nabi Bakhsh near Chandni Chowk but Nabi Bakhsh opened fire and in the exchange of fire, a police constable was killed three policemen were injured.

Constable Jamil Ahmed Lehri was killed while DSP Tajamul Hussain Shah, Sub-Inspector Mawah Khan and Constable Ghulam Haider received injuries in the clash. The injured were taken to a hospital for treatment.

POWER SUPPLY: Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco) has decided to disconnect supply of power to those provincial government departments and district governments from Aug 26 which have failed to deposit out-standing dues.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday stated that Qesco provincial executive Brig Tasadiq Hussain Shah has communicated to all operation field formation to launch coordinated action and submit the report by Thursday.
