LAHORE, Aug 23: MMA President Qazi Husain Ahmed has begun his visit to Norway with an appeal to the world community to get united against the country involved in or backing terrorism, no matter how mighty.
Addressing a gathering in Oslo, the religious alliance chief said those responsible for "terrorism" in Kashmir, Palestine, Iraq or Afghanistan had no justification to hold any other state responsible for the vice.
The main objective of the MMA leader's visit to the Scandinavian country is to refute the malicious propaganda against Islam, the religion of over a billion people. "There is only one Islam. It can't be categorized as progressive or obscurantist. What it forbids, can't be made lawful, nor any such attempt will ever succeed in appeasing the enemies of Islam".
The MMA leader urged the Norwegian Muslims to follow the teachings of Islam in a manner that others were also impressed by them. He said they should promote amity, tolerance and justice so that the society could get an idea of what Islam stood for.
The deeds of Muslims should be reflective of the teachings of the holy religion, the MMA leader said, adding that they should convince the world that Islam had the key to all problems. He regretted that by denying the women their due rights, some Islamic countries were providing the adversaries with an opportunity to make propaganda against Islam.
He said it was strange that enemies were projecting that Islam provided for amputation of hands of the thieves, but they were silent about the United States which had killed or maimed hundreds of thousands of people in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The United States, Qazi alleged, wanted to rule the entire world but those loving their freedom would not let this happen. The MMA chief stressed upon Norway to unite the world on the basis of commonalities. Kashmiri leader Lord Nazir also addressed.
