PPP backs Baloch parties' demands

By Correspondent

QUETTA, Aug 23: PPP Parliamentarian Secretary-General Jahangir Badar has supported demands of Balochistan nationalist parties and groups on provincial autonomy, democracy and control of provincial resources.

Mr Badar said Balochistan nationalist leaders were articulate on autonomy to provinces and control over provincial resources and their demands were genuine which should be accepted by the government.

Speaking to Balochistan Bar Association here on Monday, Mr Badar, while lauding the lawyers' struggle for democratic rule, claimed that PPP had never been a "B" team of military dictators instead it had struggled for the rights of the people.

While criticizing the government, the PPP leader cautioned the government that isolating the genuine political leadership to introduce so-called democratic system would endanger the integration of the country and it would strengthen hands of extremist elements.

"Our rulers have captured power through extra-constitutional methods and they are responsible for polarization in society, as these dictators are reluctant to be accountable to any fora," Mr Badar said.
