Clarification

ISLAMABAD, Aug 22: Clarifying a news report titled "61 army, civilians officials given extension in service, NA told", published in Dawn on Saturday, Pakistan Steel in a statement here Sunday said Lt-Gen Abdul Qayyum had retired from army in January 2004.

Thereafter, he has been appointed as chairman, Pakistan Steel, on contract basis for 2 years from January 19, 2004. He, therefore, does not fall in the category of officers given any extension, as quoted in the news report.
