VEHARI, Aug 20: Frequent power failure on Friday left six people unconscious, including two children, at Chak 22/WB amid hot and humid weather conditions.

The Mepco had to suspend the power supply frequently in various parts of Vehari because the fault of the control room incoming panel has still not been found.

Sub-station operator second Muhammad Imran said the faulty panel had been sent to Lahore on Friday evening for repair. He said the repair of panel would require some two days.

However, the power supply from eight feeders has been restored while the areas falling under the remaining six feeders - Thingi, Machiwal, Noor Shah, 37/WB, 22/WB and Ratta Tibba have been without electricity for the last 24 hour.

Meanwhile, the people of various localities strongly protested against the frequent power suspension. Talking to Dawn, consumers professor Shahid Ali Khan, Muhammad Yasin Gori, Muhammad Arif and Dr Akhtar demanded that the Wapda high-ups should take strict action against responsible officials of the grid station.

According to unconfirmed reports, the fault of incoming panel occurred due to the negligence of officials.
