KASUR, Aug 20: The board of governor has approved annual budget of Rs15 million for Kasur Public School (KPS). The teachers and employees will be awarded 15 per cent increase in their salaries while teachers showing outstanding performance will be given medals.

These decisions were taken during a meeting of the BoG chaired by District Nazim Rana Imtiaz Ahmad Khan here on Friday. The meeting approved grade 17 for the librarian and also launched a special fund to provide financial assistance to the poor and deserving students with the help of philanthropists in the district.

Approval for building six residences of teachers and purchase of four new coasters for pick and drop facility of students was also given. The meeting was also attended by DCO Muhammad Hashim Tareen, EDOs (revenue, works), principal GM Malik, chairman Zakat and Ushr chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Sadiq, BoG members, including Raja Younas Kiani, DBA president Sardar Qurban Dogar, Haji Javed Akhtar, Mian Ashfaq and others.

CAUGHT: At least 92 farmers were caught red-handed on Friday while stealing canal water in Khuddian, Sadar Kasur and Chhanga Manga villages. A team of irrigation department headed by Chunian and Chhanga Manga canal SDOs conducted raids and caught the water thieves. According to irrigation department, the accused were involved in water theft, but could not be arrested due to political pressure.
