KARACHI, Aug 19: Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) is considering Islamabad as an alternate venue for next year's World Snooker Championship in Pakistan.
"Our main venue is Karachi but we would be considering Islamabad as alternate venue in case of any security problem arise" President PBSA Asghar Valika said on Thursday. "We are planning to conduct the event in November because it would also be good climatically" Valika pointed out.
He said Pakistan had won the bid to stage world championship and he would be making his comprehensive presentation at International Billiards Snooker Federation (IBSF) Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held in Veldhven (Holland) being held there during the World Snooker Championship starting from Nov 20.
PBSA chief said they were considering to use Liaquat Gymnasium of Islamabad Sports for staging the global event venue some eight years ago. However, he made it clear that Pakistan only stage the world competition if alteast 35-nation assure their participation during coming AGM in Holland. Besides staging world championship, Pakistan thrice stage the Asian championship in Karachi. -APP
