ISLAMABAD, Aug 19: The People's Party Parliamentarians has expressed ignorance about the reported acceptance by Mr Asif Ali Zardari of the legal ownership of the Rock wood Estate, commonly known as Surrey Palace.

Commenting on reports on the government claim that Mr Zardari had formally accepted the legal ownership of Surrey Palace, PPP spokesperson Senator Farhatullah Babar said that Mr Zardari had decided to call the 'bluff' of the NAB by demanding the liquidators either accept that the property belonged to him and hand it over to him or concede that it did not belong to him.

The spokesperson said it was wrong to conclude that since Mr Zardari had been served with a notice about the Surrey Palace the charges against Ms Benazir Bhutto were correct.

He said Ms Bhutto had nothing to do with the house in Surrey nor had she been served with any notice in this regard. The senator alleged that the NAB was pursuing a politically motivated vendetta against Ms Bhutto because she remained the country's most popular leader.
