KARACHI, Aug 19: A division bench of the Sindh High Court, comprising Chief Justice Saiyed Saeed Ashhad and Justice Syed Zawwar Hussain Jaffery, on Thursday dismissed as withdrawn a constitutional petition filed by Wasim Akram.
The petitioner sought quashment of proceedings against him in a criminal case charging him of playing fraud with a friend and complainant Saadat Hayat Khan.
The complainant, earlier, filed a complaint with the Darakshan police, stating that Wasim Akram borrowed his Naya Daur jeep for use but later removed the vehicle to Punjab and has now misappropriated the same.
A case was registered against Wasim Akram under Section 403/406/420/424 and 426 of PPC and he was charged before Judicial Magistrate (JM-XVI), South.
The star cricket player moved the court seeking quashment of proceedings, but his counsel Tayyeb G. Ibrahim requested the court to allow withdrawal of the petition. The bench, allowing the request, dismissed the same as withdrawn. -APP
