QUETTA, Aug 18: The Jamhoori Watan Party has termed the killing of security personnel on the Sui-Kashmore road on Monday an attempt by vested interests to sabotage the process of negotiations between the federal government and Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti.
Addressing the party's national council, the newly-elected secretary-general of the JWP, Agha Shahid Hasan Bugti, said that talks were the only way to steer Balochistan out of the present crisis.
He blamed the Frontier Corps and the managements of the OGDC and PPL for the acts of subversion in Sui and Dera Bugti. He alleged that three vehicles of militiamen had come to the Sui Bazaar on the night of August 14 and sprinkled colour at a portrait of Nawab Akbar Bugti in the main chowk.
Mr Shahid Bugti said that in retaliation supporters of Nawab Bugti seized a vehicle of the Frontier Corps in Sui on Sunday. He also criticized federal ministers Faisal Saleh Hayat and Sheikh Rashid Ahmed for issuing statements that would affect the federal government's efforts to resolve the Balochistan crisis peacefully. JWP councillors from Sindh and Punjab also expressed their views on the issue during the council session.
