ISLAMABAD Aug 17: Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation (PTCL) on Tuesday announced a plan of regularization of its 7,193 daily wage employees on permanent vacant posts in two phases.

In the first phase, 4,400 employees will be adjusted against clear vacant posts while remaining 2,793 employees will be adjusted in the second phase, announced Federal Minister for Information Technology Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari while speaking at a news conference which was also addressed by Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

The minister said 7,193 daily wage employees were recruited between 1992 and 2003 whereas the employees continued to demand their regularization on permanent basis.

He said all future recruitments in the PTCL will be made on commercial and market demand. Those 4,400 employees adjusted against regular posts, he said, had been given proper training in their respective trades.
