HRIPUR: Farmer shot dead

HARIPUR, Aug 16: A farmer was shot dead and his son seriously injured in Chahar Dingi village, some 12 kilometres from here, on Saturday night. Police said that Dilawar Zaman and his son Waheed Zaman were sleeping in their cattle farm when three persons armed with sophisticated weapons opened fire on them.

They were shifted to the DHQ Hospital, where Dilawar died before he could be treated. Two of the attackers were also injured, according to Waheed Zaman.

MAN STRANGULATED: Unknown accused strangulated a young man to death here on Saturday. Police said some residents of the area spotted a mutilated body near the telephone exchange in Kotnajibullah and informed the police. The victim was stated to be in his thirties. The body was later identified as that of Ajab Khan, resident of Daidan village.

BOY KILLED: A young boy was ran over by a speeding coaster near Daidan village on Sunday. Mehfooz Ahmad, a college student, was talking to a friend on the sidewalk on the G T Road when a coaster ran over him, police said.He died on his way to the hospital.

SUICIDE: Mohammad Sajid Awan committed suicide here on Saturday evening. Abida Perveen, wife of Mr Awan, told police that her husband had recently sold his schools and was planning to settle in Dubai.

On the day of the incident, she said, Mr Awan insisted on transferring money to his personal account and exchanged harsh words with her. Mr Awan, in a fit of anger, went into his room and hanged himself with a telephone wire from the ventilator, she said.
