Asad, Nasir dazzle

KARACHI, Aug 14: An unbeaten double-century by Asadullah Sumairi and a brilliant all-round performance by Nasir Aziz were the highlights in the latest round of PCB Under-19 Inter-district cricket Karachi region matches.

Asad hammered 209 off 229 balls with the help of 17 fours and two sixes to help Zone-IV thrash Zone-III by 146 runs.

Skipper Nasir Aziz also had a memorable match to remember. He hit 83 off 94 balls with the aid of eight fours and one six.

Then on Saturday, Nasir grabbed eight for 98 in 26.4 overs with his off-spinners. Behram Khan scored a gallant 105 off 197 deliveries. He stroked 12 fours and two sixes.

Slow left-armer Noman Alvi claimed six for 56 in Zone-VI's 114-run win over Zone-V.

Zone-IV beat Zone-III by 146 runs.

ZONE-IV 410-5 in 90 overs (Asafullah Sumairi 209 not out, Nasir Aziz 83 not out); ZONE-III 264 in 80.4 overs (Behram Khan 105; Nasir Aziz 8-98).

Zone-VI beat Zone-V by 114 runs.

ZONE-VI 253 in 87.1 overs; ZONE-V 139 in 46.4 overs (Noman Alvi 6-56).

Our Sports Correspondent adds from Lahore: North Zone West defeated East Zone West by eight wickets in the low-scoring Lahore region match.

North Zone West beat East Zone Whites by eight wickets.

EAST ZONE WHITES 102 in 34.4 overs; NORTH ZONE WHITES 107-2 in 23.3 overs (Farhan Alam 51 not out).

EAST ZONE BLUES 114-4 in 43 overs v WEST ZONE WHITES.

WEST ZONE BLUES 102-0 in 28 overs (Nasir Jamshed 76 not out) v NORTH ZONE BLUES.

Muzaffargarh beat Rahimyar Khan by six wickets.

RAHIMYAR KHAN 235 in 68.5 overs (Mohammad Mobeen 73,Fahid Kazim 65 not out; Ahmed Jamal 7-82); MUZAFFARGARH 239-4 in 57 overs (Rehan Sarwar 67 not out, Jahanzeb 65).

Okara beat Sahiwal by five wickets.

SAHIWAL 175 in 58 overs (Mohammad Waris 61); OKARA 178-5 in 57.2 overs (Qaiser Shahzad 82 not out).

Bhakkar beat Jhang by 157 runs.

BHAKKAR 267 in 75 overs (Mazhar Abbas 71, Saifullah 55; Javed Mirza 4-53, Mubashir Haider 4-71); JHANG 110 in 32.5 overs (Mazhar Abbas 4-25).
