HYDERABAD: Four picnickers drown in Indus

HYDERABAD, Aug 14: Four persons including a couple drowned in the River Indus on Saturday in the Jamshoro area where a large number of people had gathered in festive mood due to the Independence Day celebrations.

Shabana and her husband Tanvir Ahmed, residents of Lalu Machhi village, entered the river near Al-Manzar picnic point and drowned.

The body of Shabana was recovered and shifted to the Liaquat University Hospital, Jamshoro branch, by her brother. The body of her husband Ahmed could not have been recovered till the filing of this report.

Syed Noman, son of Naseer Ahmed, a resident of Gharib Nawab Colony, also drowned at the same spot. His friend, Imran, son of Shabbir Ahmed Kaimkhani, resident of Latifabad-12, also drowned while trying to rescue Mr Noman.

Meanwhile, Zeeshan, son of Inam-ul-Haq died in a road accident near Jamshoro power house while his friend, Saqib, son of Najam Abbas received injuries. They were overrun by a coach.
