QUETTA, Aug 13: Security has been beefed up in and around the provincial metropolis with the additional deployment of law- enforcement forces at all important places in the city.

"Extra force will check all entry points," a senior police officer said, adding that special security arrangements have been made for places where functions would be held on Saturday in connection with the Independence Day.

In view of the instructions issued by the chief minister, patrolling by law-enforcement agencies have been increased, the FC has been put on alert for meeting any untoward situation.
