QUETTA: Lawyers observe black day

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, Aug 13: The Balochistan Bar Association observed Friday as black day on a call of the Joint Action Committee to denounce 'illegal' steps of the government and military operation in Balochistan.

A black flag was hoisted on the main door of the Bar room and lawyers wore black armbands to express resentment over elevation of judges to the Supreme Court in violation of the verdict of a higher court in the judges case.

BBA president Muhammad Wasay Tareen, presiding over a meeting on Friday, said lawyers would continue the struggle to uphold rule of law and protect the fundamental and democratic rights of the citizens.

He criticized President Gen Musharraf and federal government for pursuing what he called anti-democratic policy which was causing disharmony between Punjab and other provinces.
