KARACHI: Foundation of 50-bed hospital in Gadap laid

KARACHI, Aug 11: Sindh Minister for Planning and Development Shoaib Bukhari has said that the government was trying its best to provide all health facilities to masses on their doorsteps.

He was speaking at a gathering after laying foundation stone of a 50-bed hospital, upgraded from the status of rural health centre, in Memon Goth, Gadap Town. People of the area had to rush to the civil hospital or other such facilities in a serious situation due to the non-availability of adequate health services at the RHC.

They had long been demanding that the centre be upgraded with essential health facilities. The hospital would to be completed in 2006 with a cost of Rs40 million and facilities like x-ray, ultrasound, pathological lab, eye-nose & throat (ENT) ward, gynea ward, etc., would be available at the hospital.

Mr Bukhari directed the officers present on the occasion to ensure completion of the construction work within the stipulated time. For this purpose, he added, the government would provide an extra fund of Rs5 million.

He announced that a 100-bed hospital would soon be constructed in Gadap Town and after its completion, local people would not need to rush to civil or Jinnah hospital for modern health facilities. -PPI
