ISLAMABAD, Aug 9: A three-member delegation of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association led by its acting chairman Hashim Abdul Halim called on Senate Chairman Mohammadmian Soomro here on Monday.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest and promotion of cooperation between the Pakistani parliament and the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association were discussed.

The Senate chairman also hosted a lunch in honour of the visiting delegation. The lunch was also attended by Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retired) Irshad Ahmed Khan, federal ministers, parliamentarians and envoys of different countries.

Earlier, the out-going Yemeni ambassador, Ghaleb Saeed Al- Adoofi, also paid a farewell call on the Senate chairman at his chamber. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest and bilateral relations came under discussion.

Mr Soomro appreciated the personal interest and contribution of the outgoing ambassador in promoting bilateral ties between the two brotherly countries in various fields.

The Yemeni ambassador thanked the government and people of Pakistan for extending full cooperation to him in the performance of his diplomatic assignment. -APP
