SARGODHA: Nazim, others booked for corruption

By Our Correspondent

SARGODHA, Aug 8: The anti-corruption establishment has registered a case against tehsil Nazim Dr Liaqat Ali Khan and his cronies for allegedly misappropriating funds and sealed the TMA record.

The case was registered under Sections 409, 468 and 471 of the PPC against Mr Khan, Qasim Shah, Mehmood Qureshi, Nadeem along with TMA officials, including XEN Wasifullah Qureshi on Aug 4.

One Ghufran (late) had lodged a complaint with the Sargodha ACE alleging that the tehsil Nazim along with other officials embezzled over Rs8 million, but the case was not registered in his life time.

An ACE official told this correspondent that the record had been sealed and Wasifullah Qureshi was called through the local police as he was avoiding appearance before the establishment for investigation.

The official said the XEN was released after some time on the 'intervention' of an influential politician. However, no arrest has been made so far. Denying the charges, tehsil Nazim Dr Liaqat Ali Khan claimed that he had carried out several development works and his opponents were feeling jealous of his performance and started a mudslinging campaign against him.

Mr Khan said he was ready to face any investigation as he did not indulge in any malpractice or corruption.
