KARACHI, Aug 8: An official of the Pakistan Qaumi Razakar (PQR) was shot dead in North Nazimabad on Sunday evening. Police said that Mirza Liaquat Ali was shot dead by armed men on a motorcycle near his residence in Nusrat Bhutto Colony.
He was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Later, the victim's son, Danish, lodged an FIR against unknown persons.
BODY FOUND: The body of a young man was found from Mangopir water pumping station on Sunday. Police said that the unknown victim, in his mid 20's, was wearing a short.
They said that the victim had apparently drowned somewhere else and his body drifted down stream into the pumping station. Following the recovery, the body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for post mortem examination.
ACCIDENTS: Three persons, including a teenaged boy, died in road accidents in different parts of the city on Saturday. Police said that Hasnain, 13, was crossing road in Lyari when a speeding truck (JT-0754) hit him within the Kalri police jurisdiction. Following the accident, the truck driver escaped. The wounded boy was rushed to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
On Sharea Faisal, a young man was crushed under the wheels of a truck near Natha Khan Bridge. Police said that the truck took a sharp turn to safe a speeding minibus when the cleaner, who was asleep on the truck roof, fell and came under its wheels. His body was shifted to JPMC for autopsy.
In FB Area, a bus passenger died while trying to alight from the moving vehicle near Yousaf Plaza. Police said that Shakil Fareed, 30, travelling in a local bus tried to alight from the speeding vehicle when he slipped and came under the wheels. His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
