KARACHI, Aug 8: Residents of Ali Mohammad Mohalla (Shah Beg Lane UC-6), Lyari Town, staged a protest demonstration on Sunday afternoon against persisting water shortage problem in the locality.

The demo staged in front of Karachi Press Club was organized by the Young Kalri Anjuman. The protesters holding banners and placards in support of their demands urged City Nazim Naimatullah Khan to honour his commitment regarding construction of a separate pumping station for water supply to the locality.

A resident of the Shah Beg Lane Union Council said that his locality had been facing an acute water shortage problem for the last many years. He said that the area residents had been persistently pressing the authorities to solve the problem.

An infuriated resident said for the last two decades Ali Mohammad Mohalla had been denied of water supply on political grounds. He said, "Every party had made promises that it would solve the problem. But, none of them honoured their commitments," he added.
