ISLAMABAD, Aug 6: Chief Election Commissioner Irshad Hasan Khan reminded the political parties on Friday that they should submit their audited accounts by Aug 29.

On July 20, acting Chief Election Commissioner Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar had directed the parties to submit their statements of accounts.

The statement should contain annual income and expenses, sources of funds and assets and liabilities, the order said. According to the rules, the statement of accounts is required to be accompanied by a certificate signed by the party leader stating that no funds from any source prohibited under the PPO were received by the party and that the statement contained an accurate financial position of it.

The commission has clarified that the statement should be submitted in Form-I, available in the Election Commission secretariat here and in the offices of the provincial election commissioners.

The Election Commission has asked the parties to deliver their accounts to its secretary here through an office-bearer of the party authorized by the party leader. It said no statement received through post, fax, courier service or any other mode would be entertained.
