QUETTA, Aug 5: The train service between Quetta and Sibi was suspended for several hours after four armed men opened fire on a Karachi-bound train near the Aab-i-Gum area late Wednesday night, Railway officials said.
"None of the passenger was hurt in the firing on Mehran Express," a senior railway police officer said. The train service was restored on Thursday morning, he added. All Quetta-bound trains were stopped at the Sibi station after the firing.
Sources said that the Karachi-bound Mehran Express had left Quetta at around 7:30pm and reached Aab-i-Gum area late at night. The train's engine and a bogey sustained some damage, sources said, adding that the engine's windshield had been smashed.
Railways police officials said that there were four armed men who escaped in a vehicle after firing at the train. A case has been registered against attackers.
