Thalassaemia Society team returns

LAHORE, Aug 4: A Thalassae-mia Society of Pakistan's delegation, including two thalassaemic patients, has returned after a successful walk to K-2 base camp.

The walk was organized to create awareness about thalassaemia and collect funds to make available treatment facilities for thalassaemic patients.

Delegation leader Prof Dr Yasmin Rashid said here on Wednesday that thalassaemic patients, who completed successful walk to the K-2 base camp, had proved that proper care of thalassaemic patients could rehabilitate them as normal human beings.

By completing this most difficult track, she said both the thalassaemic patients had given a message that patients could survive as normal human beings if they would face problems bravely.

Prof Rashid lauded the support of volunteers and organizations that helped to make the walk successful. Meanwhile, the Thalassaemia International Federation chairman, Thalassaemia Federation of Pakistan president Moeen-ud-Din Haider, TSP president Prof Dr Javaria Mannan appreciated the walk participants and particularly thalassaemic patients for successfully completing the walk.
