Awais for Urdu SMS-enabled cellular phones

ISLAMABAD, Aug 4: Federal Minister for Information Technology Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari on Wednesday asked the cellular phone manufacturers focusing on Pakistani market to develop Urdu SMS service to facilitate those people who could not understand English, said an official statement.

In a letter addressed to all major importers of mobile handsets, the minister said cellular phones were not being used effectively by a common Pakistani as he could not understand English, which was the language of mobile interface.
