HYDERABAD: Protest against attempts to occupy shrine

HYDERABAD, Aug 3: Devotees of the shrine of Sufi Faqir Syed Mehdi Sain Jehanian, Shahpur Jehanian, Nawabshah, held a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Tuesday.

They were protesting against attempts of some people to occupy the shrine, its residential quarters and other properties. Talking to journalists, Syed Mehboob Ali Shah Jehanian, Faqir Sabit Ali Shahani, Faqir Sudheer Ali Chan and others said the people were trying to take over the property of the shrine which had created resentment among the disciples.

They said Makhdoom Hassan Jehanian, the grandson of Syed Mehdi Sain, was the only heir to the shrine. They said attempts were being made to deprive him of the shrine property. They appealed to the president, prime minister and other authorities to take notice of the matter and protect the shrine and its properties.

LUMHS STUDENTS: Students of the BDS department of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, belonging to the Sindh People's Students Federation-SB, held a demonstration outside the press club here on Tuesday to protest against the vice-chancellor.

Dr Javed Jokhio, Dr Ateeq Cheema, Dr Jamil Ujjan and others said the OPD of the BDS section did not have necessary equipment and the department was short of books.
