Korea urged to send team of businessmen

By Our Staff Reporter

LAHORE, July 31: Federal Industries and Production Minister Liaquat Jatoi on Saturday urged Korea to send a delegation of businessmen engaged in small and medium enterprises to Pakistan.

The minister was talking to Korean International Cooperation Agency (KICA) expert Park Chang Do at the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (Smeda) head office. Mr Do is in Pakistan on the invitation of Smeda to help Pakistani SMEs design marketing strategies for auto parts, fisheries, horticulture, marble and granite.

The minister urged the KICA expert to also help Pakistan attract investment to Pakistan from Korea, saying the country offered a congenial atmosphere for foreign investors.

At a separate meeting with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Mr Jatoi agreed to its proposal that a private sector person should head the JICA-sponsored low-cost technological upgradation project. He proposed the name of Shahzad Alam for the job.
